Woodland Investment
The demand for attractive, well-located woodland remains very strong, with values underwritten by numerous conservation bodies and wealthy private investors.
Areas of land with good road links, with commerically attractive softwoods and close to the relevant markets are also much sought after, with various plantations around the country attracting especially high prices.
Land close to towns or cities, and particularly existing developments, is in high demand at the moment and attracts much higher sale values than does woodland or agricultural land, typically by a factor of 10 or more for land that is likely to get planning permission.
Investors here would do well to keep an eye on local builders' activities, since they may well be approached as the likelihood of gaining planning permission increases.
