Brownfield land sold for £4m
Five acres of brownfield land near Leeds has been sold to a house builder for four million pounds.
Adair Paxton's land and development division, acting for Marshalls plc, the West Yorkshire-based supplier of stone and concrete building products, recently completed the sale of the brownfield site in Thorpe.
Bruce Collinson, Paxton's land partner, said the transaction had been completed in record time even though the site itself, a former brickworks and quarry, had been extremely complex and a "challenge".
Collinson claimed the land and development division had overcome "acute" difficulties regarding land remediation, access, drainage and foundations.
"The site created significant hurdles to overcome," he added, "with tiers of negotiation, and was the culmination of several years work to achieve planning permission."
